Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Lost) is interested in reprising his role as Bolt in the X-Men franchise. Grant Hermanns interviewed Monaghan for The Librarians: The Next Chapter and its season two on ScreenRant. Monaghan further expressed how Jean Grey’s storyline in Spider-Man: Brand New Day inspired him to reprise his role or take a different approach to his character. He stated,
But I think there are certainly more stories to tell with his character, and the new cast look great. I thought Sadie Sink in the Spider-Man film was fantastic, and I think she’s going to be really good. The cast looked great, so maybe they should bring back an old-man version of me, an old, wisened version of me, locked away in some caravan somewhere. I’d totally be into it.”
Monaghan’s portrayal of Bolt first appeared in X-Men Originals: Wolverine, which premiered in 2009. He starred alongside Hugh Jackman (X-Men, The Greatest Showman) as Wolverine, Liev Schreiber (Scream, The Perfect Couple) as Sabretooth, Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal, Deadpool) as Wade Wilson, Will.i.am (Rio, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa) as John Wraith, and others. The X-Men characters have been switched out over the years with Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser, Cheers) as Beast, James Marsden (27 Dresses, Sonic the Hedgehog) as Cyclops, Ian McKellen (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Da Vinci Code) as Magneto, Rebecca Romijn (Star Trek: Stange New Worlds, Femme Fatale) as Mystique, Alan Cumming (The Traitors, Spy Kids) as Nightcrawler and Patrick Stewart (Logan, Dune) for Professor X for Avengers Doomsday.
However, after the MCU saga concludes, the X-Men reboot will include new faces for beloved X-Men characters with Sadie Sink (Stranger Things, Dear Zoe) as Jean Grey, Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Ready Player One) as Cyclops, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, The Babysitter) as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrete (Obsession, 13 Reasons Why) as Rogue, Adam Driver (Marriage Story, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Mr. Sinister, Maya Boyd (Deadbeat, Reverence) as Storm and Christopher Abbott (Girls, Poor Things) as Professor X.
