According to Variety, Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Christina Applegate (Anchorman), Thomas Haden Church (Sideways), and Nina Dobrev (CW’s The Vampire Diaries) will star in the upcoming romantic comedy Crash Pad.
The film will be directed by Kevin Tent making this his directorial debut. He is the Oscar-nominated editor for Alexander Payne’s Nebraska and The Descendants. The script – taken from Hollywood’s Black List – was written by Jeremy Catalin.
Gleeson will star as a young man who falls in love with an older woman (Applegate) but finds out that she is using him to get revenge on her neglectful husband (Church). Gleeson’s character threatens her with blackmail but his plan backfires and ends with her husband moving in with him as an act of revenge on his wife.
Lauren Bratman and William Horberg are producing along with executive producers Dominic Ianno, Jon Ferro and Stuart Pollok, Joseph McKelheer, Bill Kiely, and Vicki Sotheran. Payne is also executive producer.
Gleeson will also appear in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu’s The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2016. Applegate will be voicing Brittany in the Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip sequel, while Church will appear in Will Ferrell‘s Daddy’s Home. Dobrev can now be seen in the comedy-horror film The Final Girls.
