While Snow White is just around the corner, Disney is already starting to promote their next live-action remake. A new trailer has been released for the live action version of Lilo & Stitch.
Based on the animated feature from 2002, Lilo & Stitch follows a young girl living in Hawaii struggling to make friends. Her own wishes are eventually answered in the form of a small blue alien creation posing as a dog, who’s being hunted by the race that created him to begin with.
Dean Fleischer Camp, director of Marcel The Shell With Shoes On, will be responsible for helming Lilo & Stitch. Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders directed the original film, who are credited this time around as original writers.
While Stitch himself has been shown before on posters and in promotional material, this trailer is the first time audiences get a look at some of the other alien creatures in the film. A number of them are still not shown fully, but the trailer shows a number of side characters, closely resembling their animated counterparts.
One of the key alien players shown is Pleakley, although the full design is only briefly shown. One change from the original film promised by the remake is that he and his companion, Jumba, have full human disguises, whereas initially they just wore human clothes in order to fit in.
Lilo & Stitch hits theaters this Memorial Day, and stars Maia Kealoha, Chris Sanders, Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen, and Zach Galifianakis. Check out the trailer from IGN’s YouTube below.
