Since the opening of 2015’s Inside Out, fans have asked for a follow-up to the fictional inside look at our emotions. They have received their first look through a new teaser and poster released by Disney and Pixar for Inside Out 2.
The first Inside Out follows Riley, a young girl uprooted from her old life when her family moves to San Francisco. While trying to acclimate to life there, her emotions struggle to help her cope with the struggles with moving.
Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), and Anger (Lewis Black) all work inside Riley’s mind to control her emotions, but when Joy and Sadness get lost, they must find their way back, and help Riley acclimate to her new life.
The trailer for the newest film shows Riley reaching her 13th birthday; while her emotions are celebrating, they’re suddenly interrupted by a construction crew renovating the entire place, leaving a new emotion with them: Anxiety, played by Maya Hawke.
The first Inside Out opened to a staggering $859 million worldwide and won the “Best Animated Feature” Oscar that year.
Peter Docter, who directed the first one, expressed hesitance in following up his film with a sequel. But, as Deadline reports, he finally let up, with Inside Out 2 being confirmed just last year.
This time, Kelsey Mann will helm the project, and Tony Hale and Liza Lapira will respectively replace Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling as Fear and Disgust.
Inside Out 2 hits theaters on June 14th of next year. Check out the trailer below.
