After 25 years since Titanic hit theaters, director James Cameron is putting an end to rumors about the ending of the movie, which is just as famous as the film itself.
Cameron is hoping to end the rumors on how Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) could have survived the after the sinking of the ship. Rumors say that if Rose (Kate Winslet) moved a little bit on the floating door that kept her alive and out of the freezing waters, then Jack would be alive.
In an article written by CNN, Cameron said he conducted a “forensic” study, to prove to the audience that the door couldn’t hold them both.
Cameron gave an explanation to CNN “We have since done a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who reproduced the raft from the movie,” he continued, adding that they used “two stunt people who were the same body mass of Kate and Leo and we put sensors all over them and inside them and we put them in ice water and we tested to see whether they could have survived through a variety of methods and the answer was, there was no way they both could have survived.”
Cameron said the research will be the subject of a National Geographic special to coincide with Titanic‘s 25th anniversary re-release in 4K. However, the network has yet to release any details.
In the new interview conducted by the National Geographic, Cameron said Jack needed to die, he said “it’s like Romeo and Juliet. It’s a movie about love and sacrifice and mortality. The love is measured by the sacrifice.”
After setting records straight, the filmmaker hopes that after 25 years he won’t have to deal with the ending again.
