Director Greta Gerwig known for writing and directing two academy award nominee movies Lady Bird and Little Women, has taken over to direct Barbie.
Gerwig writes Barbie along her husband Noah Baumbach. This comedy movie features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, along with actors like Will Ferrell, Kate Mckinnon, Michael Cera, and Issa Rae.
When asked by Variety on costumes worn by Gosling in his portrayal of Ken. Gerwig couldn’t resist in saying that it was “one of many extraordinary looks.” Various images from production leaked on social media showing Robbie and Gosling in costume. They both wore neon, tie-dye spandex, just like the Barbie Dolls.
One special looked made the audience wild when the first look for Barbie dropped in June. It portrayed Gosling with a chiseled six-pack, orange spray-tan and platinum mop-top, which is the ideal look for his character portrayal of Ken.
Barbie will be in theaters on July 21, 2023.
People on Twitter have reacted on Gerwig’s comment about Gosling’s costume.
Greta Gerwig says the public is “not even close” to seeing all of Ryan Gosling’s Ken costumes in ‘BARBIE’.
“It’s one of many extraordinary looks.”
