Director Daniel Espinosa Responds To ‘Morbius’ Heavy Critics

Sony’s newest addition to their filmography, Morbius, is approaching its one-week mark out in theaters and so far it has been less than a hit amongst critics, and fans.

The film starring Jared Leto has had one of the most underwhelming box office debuts for a Sony Studios production in recent memory and has been confirmed to be one of the lowest-rated superhero movies of all times with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 17%. But director Daniel Espinosa had his own thoughts on the film and was not afraid to fire back at critics.

Espinosa admitted to always trying to improve in each of his films as a direct result of having self-loathing tendencies causing him to be hyper-critical of everything he makes. To him, producing films that become so public is “a strange thing”. He adds that he’s even had people come up to him in person to tell him things they didn’t like about his movies.

While coming off slightly bitter in his previous words, the Swedish director stresses that he is proud of aspects of all of his work and stands by the decisions made in his latest project.

Morbius is available in theaters now, if you’re brave enough to disregard the reviews.
