Director Apologies to Letitia Wright over “Daily Wire” Promotional Deal.

Letitia Wright best known for playing Princess Shuri in Marvel’s Black Panther recently produced her own film in collaboration with director Josh Weigel, The Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, a Christian faith story about a group of 22 different families of the same church in East Texas attempting to adopt 77 different children out of the foster care system. In a deal that excluded informing Wright, director Weigel made a deal with far right-wing conservative media groups “Daily Wire” and “Angel Studios” to promote the film. The deal upset Wright, understandably, who expressed before the deal that she had joined the project in the first place because she wanted to help children not send a political statement.

Weigel in a joint statement with Rebekah Weigel another producer for the film had this to say on the matter after Wright distanced herself from the film after announcing in a deleted Instagram post that she was not and would not be affiliated with the “Daily Wire”.

“We are grateful for all [Wright] has done and regret she wasn’t informed about the partnership with The Daily Wire. That was not handled well, and we apologize for putting her in this position.”

The Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot will still be released in theaters as scheduled with the promotional deal with “Daily Wire.” Weigel and the other producers have stood by their decision to partner with the company saying that all who wish to help children should.
