Representatives for Glenne Headly confirm this morning that the actress passed away on Thursday night at the age of 62. She is survived by her husband Byron McCulloch and son Sterling. “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of Glenne Headly,” her reps said in a statement. “We ask that her family’s privacy be respected in this difficult time.”
Headly is most known for starring as Tess Trueheart opposite Warren Beatty, Madonna, and Al Pacino in 1990’s Dick Tracy. She made her start in theater, acting in several productions and at one point starring alongside Susan Sarandon in the 1982 production of Extremities.
She made her transition to film in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine. Following that in 1988, she enjoyed an illustrious film and television career, appearing in films such as Mr. Holland’s Opus, Sgt. Bilko, The Joneses, Don Jon, and most recently alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Watson in The Circle. Headly had roles on the television series ER, Monk, and The Night Of, among others. She earned two Emmy nominations for her work on Lonesome Dove and Bastard Out of California. Her most recent project is Future Man, a Hulu series starring Josh Hutcherson and Ed Begley Jr.
Headley was briefly married to actor John Malkovich from 1982-1988. She married McCulloch, a film crewman, in 1993 and together they had a son.
