Dexter Fletcher In Talks to Direct Third ‘Sherlock Holmes’

 

A new Sherlock Holmes film is on the horizon as according to Deadline, Dexter Fletcher is set to direct Sherlock Holmes 3 which will be distributed by Warner Bros.

After finishing Bohemian Rhapsody in the absence of Bryan Singer who was terminated from the film, the film witnessed $900 million earning at the box office worldwide winning four Oscars which includes Rami Malek for Best Actor. Fletcher’s recent opus Rocketman detailing the life of performer Elton John debut earlier this summer and generated over $175 million.

Although Fletcher’s deal with Warner Bros. is not set in stone, Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are signed on for Sherlock Holmes 3 and are expected to reprise their roles.

The co-creator of Narcos, Chris Brancato will serve as the film’s screenwriter accompanied by Joel Silver, Susan Downey, Dan Lin and Lionel Wigram. Village Roadshow is also acting as a co-producer on the film.

Guy Ritchie previously directed the first two installments of the Sherlock Holmes franchise which altogether grossed approximately $1 billion at the global box office. Fletcher and Ritchie have previously worked together on Lock, Stock, and Two Barrels in which Ritchie starred.

Sherlock Holmes 3 is expected to open on December 21st, 2021. Fletcher is currently represented by CAA.
