Decade-Long Wait Is over: ‘Bill and Ted 3’ Announces Title

According to Comic Book, fans of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) can soon celebrate the beginning of the next installment in the series: Bill and Ted Face the Music. More good news: Dean Parisot is set to direct the returning stars, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Although some say it not about the destination but the journey, screenwriter Ed Solomon’s trek to this third script has taken nearly a decade to complete.

It’s been quite some time since the last movie, which means a big change: the film has to acknowledge that Bill and Ted have grown up. It turns out that the sequel is going to deal with this in a creative way, using their staple of time travel: older Bill and Ted will head over to the Circle K and will observe their past selves, a concept which will be made possible due to already-shot film reels from all those years ago. This choice will also allow the late George Carlin to be included in the fun. He played Rufus, who led Bill and Ted throughout time, guiding their journey in order to help improve their grasp of history for their studies. If they don’t succeed in class, then it will end up negatively changing the future, which Carlin’s character aims to save.

Still, the film’s existence isn’t a given, as it does not have full studio approval, so it’s possible that it may not come to fruition.
