A film based Marvel Comics’ psychotic chatty mercenary, Deadpool has had a script and a director for some time now, yet it’s been an uphill battle to get the project onto the big screen. Apparently an R-rated, fourth wall-ignorant superhero film where the main character knows he was previously in a bad movie (i.e. X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is a tough sell for a studio. But, it now looks like the Deadpool movie is finally getting the go-ahead – from the very studio whose bad movie the script mocks no less. According to the Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox has announced Deadpool will be released February 12, 2016. However, they have not announced whether Ryan Reynolds – who played the character in Wolverine – will reprise the title role.
