‘Deadpool 2’ Teaser Trailer Reveals Cable and Some Cross-Universe Easter Eggs

Fresh out of the gym, Josh Brolin reveals “Cable,“ his role in Deadpool 2. According to the Hollywood Reporter,  Brolin gave fans brief glimpse of his workout routine that got him fighting ready for the sequel. Ryan Reynolds rolled out the movie’s one-sheet yesterday and today has revealed the first teaser trailer for the film, introducing audiences to Cable and providing a glimpse into the look, feel, and punchy humor of the Untitled Deadpool sequel.

The footage contains several hilarious easter eggs for fans and hits across the board of both DC and Marvel references. One such reference comes when Deadpool interrupts the trailer to talk about the unfinished CGI on Cable’s arm, saying “It’s not like we’re removing a mustache,” directly mocking the CGI removal of Henry Cavill’s mustache in Justice League.

Beyond that, there are two mentions of Brolin also playing the role of Thanos in the Avengers films. Deadpool goes on to say “Ah, f**k it, I’ll do it myself,” referencing the end of credits scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron when Thanos is fed up with his minions like Loki failing to acquire the infinity stones, picking up the gauntlet and saying, “I’ll do it myself.” Then, when fighting the Deadpool and Cable action figures, Toy Story style, Deadpool tells Cable “Zip it, Cable, I’ve got the stones to help you,” which is yet another dig at Thanos’ inability to access the infinity stones across the films while relying on other characters to obtain them for him.

Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have scripted the second wave and David Leitch directed. In addition to Reynolds and Brolin, the cast will feature performances from Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Zazie Beetz, and T.J. Miller.

Deadpool 2 Will be released on May 18, two weeks after Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War in which Brolin also plays bad guy Thanos. Check out the teaser below.
