Relative newcomer Jack Kesy has been cast by Millenium Media as the lead character in the upcoming Hellboy reboot, The Crooked Man. Gaining popularity from his role as Black Tom in Deadpool 2, Millennium Media has cast him as a younger Hellboy in an early venture with the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
Based on the comic book of the same name, The Crooked Man will see Kesy’s Hellboy stranded in a small 1950s Appalachian community alongside a rookie BPRD agent. There, they will square off against a coven of witches led by the Crooked Man, a troubling figure from Hellboy’s past.
Co-president of Millenium Media Jonathan Yunger has expressed excitement about the future project’s potential, citing Jack Kesy’s versatility as a boon. “Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who can morph into his roles,” Yunger claims. “His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy.” Additionally, the movie will be co-written for the first time by the original Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and directed by Crank director Brian Taylor.
Kesy himself is no stranger to action and comic book movies, from his role in Deadpool 2 to a more significant role in Gullermo del Toro’s series The Strain. However, most of his roles in the past have been supporting ones, which means that this version of Hellboy could be his breakout role.
