David O. Russell’s upcoming picture Amsterdam released a new trailer this weekend ahead of its release.
Amsterdam follows three friends in the 1930s who have been caught up in a political conspiracy after becoming involved in the mysterious murder from a U.S. senator. The films stars Margot Robbie, John David Washington, and Christian Bale.
The new trailer includes a clip abstained from the initial trailer which shows singer-songwriter Taylor Swift being pushed into the street. This is not Swift’s first acting role, however it will be the first time fans have seen her on the silver screen in quite some time.
According to Bale, while on set there was a scene that was supposed to feature John David Washington and himself singing with Swift. During a rehearsal, director Russell intervened and proposed they just “shut up” and let Swift take the lead. “And it was like we had been drowning out an angel’s voice all day long with our cacophony and our rough, terrible voices.”
Apparently Bale’s daughter also had an opinion on his supposed collaboration with Swift, saying, “Wait, what? Why would you be doing that?”.
With or without the star studded trio that almost was, Amsterdam is scheduled to arrive in theaters this Friday, October 7th.
