Iconic filmmaker David Lynch made a cameo in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, but for those who aren’t as familiar with Lynch, one might not know that he almost always makes eccentric requests on set. The film is based on Spielberg’s life, and the director brought Lynch into the film to make a quick appearance as legendary director John Ford, known for his westerns, such as Stagecoach and The Grapes of Wrath. In an interview with The Playlist, Lynch made a joke about never having pursued acting because it would be unfair to actors like Harrison Ford and George Clooney. While his role in The Fabelmans wasn’t large, it was memorable!
But what was Lynch’s asking price to star in the film? Junk food, of course. Lynch, well-known for television series Twin Peaks, has a documented love for Coca-Cola, so it makes sense that the eccentric director would request this. He requested that Cheetos be available on The Fabelmans set.
About his request, Lynch commented, “Well, Cheetos, number one, I love them…And any chance I can, I get them. But I know that they’re not exactly health food. So when I do leave the house and I get a chance to…But I don’t get them that often, honestly. If I do get them, I want a big bag. because once you start…you need to have a lot before you could slow down and actually stop. Otherwise, with a small bag, then you’d be prowling for days to find more […] It’s incredible flavor.”
