The death last Sunday of actor Dean Stockwell shocked not a few members of the film industry. One of them, David Lynch, also paid tribute to the Paris, Texas and Married to the Mob actor in his daily weather forecast.
Stockwell worked alongside Lynch on two occasions. The first was precisely in Dune, so topical right now, in which the actor played Dr. Yueh, a key character as those who have seen Villeneuve’s recent film (in which Chang Chen plays him) will know. Later they would collaborate again in Blue Velvet, in which Stockwell accompanied Kyle MacLachlan, Dennis Hopper, Laura Dern, and Isabella Rossellini, in the role of Ben.
Every morning, the man behind Mulholland Dr. shares a weather report from his home to all his YouTube channel subscribers. However, this time he started the report with a special dedication: “In honor of the great Dean Stockwell, I’d like to recommend today ‘Honky Tonk, Part 1’ by Bill Doggett,” the director commented, sharing a rhythm & blues song that was undoubtedly important for both, before proceeding with the report.
“This afternoon it will be going up to only 64 degrees Fahrenheit, around 18 Celsius and it’s going to be cloudy for sure this afternoon. This afternoon there will be clouds, but also a chance for blue skies and golden sunshine along the way. Everyone have a great day,” his forecast concluded. A sober but heartfelt condolence for an actor who is already a legend.
