Dave Bautista, 54, is well known for starring in action and thriller movies and being a retired professional WWE wrestler. Now Bautista is looking to step foot into a genre he hasn’t explored: Rom-Coms.
At the premiere of Knock at the Cabin at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, Dave Bautista, who plays Leonard, confessed to Page Six that he knows he is not the conventional rom-com lead.
“I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead,” Bautista told Page Six, “I’m a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror, and I say, I ask myself, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?’”
Nevertheless, Bautista is hopeful he’ll get an offer to star in a rom-com.
“I don’t know,” Bautista continued. “It’s just never come my way. I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching.”
Knock at the Cabin is directed by M. Night Shylaman and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is based on the novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay. In the movie, Bautista plays the role of Leonard, a man who, alongside three others, holds a vacationing family of three hostages inside a cabin and insists that they must sacrifice one family member to prevent the apocalypse. The film releases to theaters on February 3rd, 2023.
