Directors of the 2023 horror hit Talk To Me, Danny and Michael Philippou have recently given an update on the highly anticipated sequel. In an interview with Indiewire, Danny Philippou said that each of them have a script for the film, they just have not decided on a direction to go yet. Each script follows a different character, so they still have major decisions to make before moving forward with production.
In the interview, Michael Philippou said, “A part of it is, I can’t decide which is the best avenue to take… So I’d say 2025 Bring Her Back, 2026 the documentary, 2027 [the new] horror, and then Talk to Me 2. So when we’re like 50, we’ll do Talk to Me 2.” This means that that ‘Talk To Me 2’, or Talk 2 Me, as it was called when A24 first announced the sequel back in 2023, is more than a few years away. Not that directors cannot work on multiple projects at once, but with at least 3 films lined up between Talk To Me films, it does not seem like the sequel is a major priority.
Talk To Me became a major success for A24 in the summer of 2023, with the horror flick grossing nearly $100 million worldwide. The film followed a group of teenagers attempting to commune with spirits by using a severed hand. It was praised critically, with audiences pointing to the fear factor as its major selling point.
This was a feature directorial debut for the Philippou twins, but they got their start as the YouTube channel RackaRacka making horror comedy videos. Their next film, Bring Her Back, releases May 30, 2025.
