Dan Folger Joins Hailee Steinfeld In ‘Barely Lethal’

Hailee Steinfeld stars in ‘Barely Lethal’

Dan Folger (Balls Of Fury, Fanboys, Europa Report) and wild man Steve-O (Jackass) are joining Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit)  in Kyle Newman’s (Fanboys) new action-comedy, Barely Lethal. Earlier this month Catching Fire actor Bruno Gunn also joined the already prestigious cast which includes Jessica Alba (Machete, Sin City) and actor Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained).

Barely Lethal is an action-comedy from an original screenplay by John D’Arco (A Grocery Store). It stars Steinfeld as teenager, Megan, who has been raised at a boarding school that trains young children to be assassins. Megan is tired of her vicious, international assassin lifestyle and longs to become a normal teenager. She fakes her own death and runs away to become a senior in a suburban high school where she learns that dealing with being popular is far more difficult than killing people. Things get complicated when her former employer (Jessica Alba) and an interrogator/torturer with a heart of gold (Samuel L. Jackson) start tracking her down.

Dan Folger,  will play a personable and well meaning teacher at Megan’s new school who, by the sound of it, may do a bit more digging into Megan’s past than she welcomes. Fogler has been busy co-writing and co-directing with Michael Canzoniero (Finding Cody) the upcoming Anne Hathaway drama Don Peyote.

Hard working actor Samuel L. Jackson is currently finishing up Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson where he plays the recurring role of Nick Fury, director of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

Next up for Hailee Steinfeld is the screen adaptation of Daniel Handler’s best selling book Why We Broke Up. The romantic comedy will be directed by Beth McCarthy Miller, the director of TV’s Saturday Night Live for 11 years.

Barely Lethal is being produced by Brett Ratner, John Cheng, Sukee Chew, Vanessa Coifman, Ted Hartley and Rat Pack Entertainment, Hopscotch Pictures and R.K.O. Look for it to be released in 2014.
