Daisy Ridley, the breakout star of the rebooted Star Wars franchise, is on roll. Last week, it was announced she is slated to star in J. J. Abrams’ production of the fantasy-thriller Kolma. Now the news is that Ridley has signed on to star in World War II-era love story, The Lost Wife. Variety first reported the news.
Robbie Brenner, Michelle Chydzik, and Jeff Waxman are producing the project. No studio or director is attached yet. Marc Klein (Mirror Mirror) is adapting the screenplay from the best-selling novel of the same name by Alyson Richman. The story centers on two young lovers, Lenka (Ridley) and Josef, in prewar Prague. Their lives are shattered when they are separated during the Nazi invasion. Lenka survives the horrors of war, and decades later is adapting to life in New York when she is reunited with her lost love.
Ridley is currently filming the next installment of Star Wars in which she reprises her role as Rey. Episode VIII bows on December 15, 2017.
