After bursting into moviegoers’ consciousness last year in the J. J. Abrams-helmed mega blockbuster Star Wars: Episode VII–The Force Awakens, Daisy Ridley will be re-teaming with Abrams in his production of the fantasy thriller Kolma.
Helmed by Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl), the story centers around a 22 year-old woman (Ridley) involved in a horrific car accident which kills her boyfriend. When the woman ages and approaches death, she is given a choice to re-live the day of her accident at age 22, or reunite with her lover. The feature is based on a 2003 Israeli TV-movie entitled All I’ve Got (Kol Ma She’Yesh Li). Megan Holley (Sunshine Cleaning) is adapting the screenplay.
Along with Abrams, Ram Bergman, David Lonner and Sherryl Clark are producing.
This is Ridley’s first big role after nabbing one of the coveted leads in the rebooted Star Wars franchise. She is currently filming the next installment of Star Wars in which she reprises her starring role as Rey. Episode VIII is written and directed by Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed the action-crime-sci-fi Looper.
