The new horror thriller Companion has generated a large amount of buzz leading up to its release. The film already has critics raving and has earned itself a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. This impressive score bodes well for the film’s box office run. If positive word of mouth continues to spread, we can expect the Companion will perform well.
Companion was written and directed by Drew Hancock. It stars Sophie Thatcher, known for Yellowjackets, MaXXXine, and Heretic, as well as Jack Quaid, known for The Boys and Scream. Horror fans will be excited to learn that Zach Cregger, the acclaimed director of Barbarian, will be producing.
Companion will be released on January 31st, just before Valentine’s Day. The film is described as “a weekend getaway turns bloody and violent when a subservient android that’s built for human companionship goes haywire.”
People are also taking to the popular movie review website Letterboxd to send their praises:
If this is the future of robots i wouldn’t mind it – cherri
Sophie Thatcher is (not so) slowly becoming our new Scream Queen, and I am here for it! Movie wouldn’t be half as good without her. – Marianna Neal
It will be exciting to see if Companion is able to maintain this high praise during its theatrical release. Only time will tell but hopes are high.
