The Philippou brothers are continuing to add the pieces for their newest horror film, Bring Her Back. In 2022, their horror film Talk to Me was bought by independent film studio A24 and would go on to become one of their biggest-grossing horror films domestically.
Now, according to Variety, Danny and Michael Philippou are working directly with the studio on their next horror project and have just rounded out their cast for the film. Currently, they have Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) starring in the film, but the team has also recently got Billy Barratt (Invasion) to star opposite her. Also now starring in the film are Jonah Wren Phillips (Sweet Tooth), Sally-Anne Upton (Wentworth), Stephen Phillips (Neighbors), and Sora Wong. Currently, the plot of the film has not been revealed at all, but filming for it will begin this summer.
This also isn’t the only film that the Philippou brothers are working on for A24, they are also set to direct a sequel to Talk to Me. It went on to be one of the highest-grossing films for the production company, grossing $92.1 million internationally, according to Box Office Mojo. The brothers are also turning their attention to making a documentary on the topic of underground deathmatch wrestling, a topic the two are passionate about.
The brothers were known for making amateur films and YouTube videos under the username RackaRacka. They were especially well known for their Ronald McDonald videos, as one of the brothers would dress up like the McDonald mascot and get into wacky and often violent situations. Their YouTube channel, which has also talked about their experience making Talk to Me, is currently at 6.84 million subscribers.
As of now, there is no release date for Bring Her Back.
