Confirmed ‘Star Wars’ Casting News Overturns Last Week’s Speculations

Well, it seems that last week’s intel from Scmoes Knows is – at minimum – mostly bogus. To be fair, the story was prefaced as totally unconfirmed, so it was fair to take it with a grain, if not a few tablespoons, or salt.

All that stands in stark contrast, however, to a Bleeding Cool story which avers absolute certainty in giving us short outlines for seven lead characters in the upcoming film. An open casting call reportedly began today in the UK. The character profiles stand as follows:

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

While none of the characters may be the Solo twins, the number of young, fit people don’t exactly dissuade continued speculations that Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is running a Jedi academy somewhere in the movie. Similar also is the presence of a late-teen female character (or, in this case, two), which falls right in line with persistent rumors that this new trilogy will center on a young female protagonist.

One thing’s for sure – if it hasn’t been until this point, the new Star Wars movie is about to start seeming very real.
