Although not usually considered an action star, Vince Vaughn has just signed on to play the lead in the film adaptation of the graphic novel Term Life. He will be playing Nick Barrow, a man who makes a living off of creating heists and tricks for career criminals. After his involvement in a botched crime, Barrow, a man described as a “low-life” and “universally despised” by the police, the mob, and hit men, decides to make good for once by taking out a million-dollar life-insurance policy payable to his estranged daughter. The problem is a matter of time: the policy takes 21 days to take effect meanwhile, everyone Barrow knows is trying to kill him.
The original crime noir comic was written by A.J. Lieberman (Cowboy Ninja Viking), but there is no word yet on who will be scripting the adaptation. Peter Billingsley, who worked with Vaughn on 2009’s comedy Couple’s Retreat, is signed on to direct.
Shooting should begin in January.
