From Winter’s Bone to The Hunger Games to an Oscar-winning turn in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, it would seem that Jennifer Lawrence is hitting her stride as an actress, and that at just 22 years of age. And with the announcement that Lawrence has signed onto the film adaptation of Rules of Inheritance, not only does this leading lady have her next role set, but she’ll be taking her first turn as a producer as well.
The emotionally-charged story of The Rules of Inheritance is based on Claire Bidwell Smith’s memoirs. Smith’s parents were both diagnosed with cancer when she was only 14 years old. Over the course of 7 years she lost both her parents, tried to cope with the loss through drinking, romances, and travel. Her memoir recounts how, by the time she reached 25, she found herself utterly alone in the world. Abi Morgan, the writer of such dramas as Shame and The Iron Lady, will write the script.
While there’s not yet news on who will be joining Lawrence in front of the camera, joining her to produce is Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Milk), who also worked with Lawrence on Silver Linings Playbook. The film is to be directed by Susanne Bier (Things We Lost in the Fire). This will be a reunion for Lawrence and Bier as well, as Bier just directed the actress in Serena alongside Bradley Cooper, which will be released on September 27th of this year.
