Colman Domingo Hints At What To Expect With Steven Spielberg’s Upcoming UFO Film: “A Love Letter To Our Humanity”

Colman Domingo in 'Sing Sing'

Colman Domingo recently teased in an interview what Steven Spielberg has in store for their upcoming sci-fi movie and how it compares to some of his earlier films in the genre, such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and War of the Worlds, Screen Rant reports.

Joining the cast of the currently untitled film back in September, which includes Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Josh O’Connor, and Wyatt Russell, the Sing Sing star, who previously had a role in Spielberg’s Lincoln, hinted during an interview with Josh Horowitz on his podcast Happy Sad Confused how this project would stand out from the legendary director’s other UFO-centric work saying, “…I think it’s something new and different. But I’ll tell you one thing it has, it has so much heart…I feel like it’s a love letter to our humanity. […] He co-wrote this one, so I feel like this is very Steven Spielberg. It’s probably more Steven Spielberg than Steven Spielberg.”

Co-written with his frequent collaborator, David Koepp, who also wrote Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the production will mark Spielberg’s return to the alien-based summer blockbuster after several decades and is currently scheduled for release on May 15, 2026.
