Colleen Hoover’s next film adaptation, Regretting You, has released a sneak peek of the official trailer, which is set to release tomorrow, via Snapchat. Hoover published the novel in 2019, and in August 2024, it was announced that Allison Williams would lead the feature, accompanied by a star-studded cast that includes McKenna Grace, Dave Franco, Mason Thames, Willa Fitzgerald, Scott Eastwood, and Clancy Brown.
The film plot is reportedly the same as the book, according to US Weekly, and will center around “the story of Morgan Grant (Williams)and her 16-year-old daughter, Clara (Grace), who are very different. While Morgan is trying to prevent her teen from making the same past mistakes (getting married and having a baby too young), Clara actively clashes with her mom. After Morgan’s husband, Chris (Eastwood), dies in a sudden accident, she finds comfort in the person she least expected to.” The film’s producer, Flaacia Viotti, told Entertainment Weekly in July 2025 that they wanted “to keep as close to the book as possible” to not “disappoint” the fans but Viotti does not think that will be an issue. Fitzgerald plays Jenny, Morgan’s sister, and Franco appears as Jonah, who is Jenny’s boyfriend and becomes a point of comfort for Morgan. Thames portrays Miller, Clara’s love interest.
The feature was directed by Josh Boone, with an adapted screenplay by Susan McMartin. Robert Kulzer, Brunson Green, Anna Todd, and Viotti are all named as producers. Regretting You wrapped production in May of this year and is setto be released in theaters on October 25, 2025.
