‘Coco 2’ Set To Release in 2029

Following its Oscar winning trail from 2017, Coco 2 is set to be released in 2029. The sequel is currently in development and was confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger. Iger recently announced Coco 2′s production while speaking at Disney’s Annual Shareholder meeting on Thursday.

Iger was recently quoted at the meeting, saying:

While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure, and we can’t wait to share more soon.

Coco 2 is set to bring back members of the animation studio creative team from the original film, including directors, Lee Unkrichn and Adrian Molina. Mark Nielson is currently set to produce Coco 2.

Coco originally gained critical acclaim including an Oscar win for the original song, Remember Me, which was written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. The film also won a Golden Globe for best animated feature as well as a BAFTA for best animated film, and a Critic’s Choice award for best animated feature and best original song.

There is also much excitement brewing because Disney has recently been making plans to create a Coco themed adventure ride, set to be built in California at Disneyland. Coco 2 is set for a theatrical release in 2029.
