The introduction to Gotham City for the DC Universe is taking shape. Clayface has just finished filming, with the lead talent playing the titular villain posting a celebratory wrap photo, which may hold some clues as to what the film holds in store.
Directed by James Watkins, Clayface marks the first time the iconic form changing Batman villain will appear in live action. The film follows an actor who discovers a mysterious drug as he’s faced with the reality of losing stardom. But once he takes the drug, he realizes it gives him the ability to morph his form at will, allowing him to take any shape he can think of.
With filming over for Clayface, lead actor Tom Rhys Harries shared a photo on his Instagram from what many can assume was his trailer during production.
The photo in particular, which he posted to Instagram, has several specific quotes that fans have honed in on. One of them is actually a quote from the works of Shel Silverstein. Screenrant notes that it reads “go where the chalk-white.”
With all the finer details of Clayface being kept under wraps, it’s unknown how or even if that saying will relate to the film in any way. But some fans are beginning to speculate if it will tie directly to the story, given the connotation between chalk and clay.
Clayface hits theaters September 11th.
