One of the next projects in the DC Universe, Clayface, has begun filming ahead of its debut next year. As with most productions, set photos have started to emerge online, but the ones for Clayface may be setting up just what fans can come to expect from this version of Gotham City.
Clayface is set to be the introduction to Gotham City for the DC Universe, as the film follows an actor who goes to great lengths to stay in the spotlight, even trying an experimental procedure that has dire consequences. Tom Rhys Harries headlines the film as the titular villain, with a script written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.
While many are both speculating and hoping that Clayface will be the first look at Batman in these films, no confirmation has been given whether the Caped Crusader will appear or not. However, new set photos reveal that other characters may already be established within the world.
As ScreenRant noted, which also revealed the now-deleted set photos from X, the images show a graffiti-covered alleyway in Gotham City. Mixed in among all the other details are two specific flyers; one details a “penguin man,” while the other shows a clown bearing a strong resemblance to none other than the Joker. Despite this, there’s no confirmation given if either the Penguin or Joker will appear in the movie; the only confirmed member of Batman’s rogue gallery is Clayface. However, many still remain hopeful that this points to both villains already being established within the universe.
