Clayface is slowly starting to take shape. Naomi Ackie is now in talks to appear in one of the next DC Universe projects.
Directed by James Watkins, Clayface follows a B-movie actor who starts to take a mysterious drug in hopes of keeping himself relevant. But his life takes a different shape when he finds that it allows him to change his body however he pleases, taking any shape he wishes.
As Hollywood Reporter notes, one of Ackie’s most popular roles was in I Wanna Dance With Somebody, when she got top billing for portraying Whitney Houston. She also had a role as Jannah in Star Wars: Episode IX- The Rise of Skywalker, on top of appearing in Mickey 17 earlier this year.
As of now, there’s no clarification given as to who Ackie will play, or even what role the character will play in the story.
As a character in the DC mythos, Clayface is one of Batman’s many adversaries, sporting many alter egos since his 1940 appearance in Detective Comics #40. While appearing in many comics and animated projects, Clayface has never appeared in a live-action film. Slated to play Clayface himself is Tom Rhys Harries, with a script co-written by Mike Flanagan.
Clayface hits theaters September 11th, 2026.
