A24 has obtained North American rights to one of the year’s most anticipated indie films, which just recently dropped at the market. The Stars At Noon is a romance thriller directed by famed French film director Claire Denis, best known for her feature film Beau Travail. Robert Pattinson, who also starred in Denis’ 2018 sci-fi film High Life, will star in the upcoming picture alongside Once Upon A Time In Hollywood breakout Margaret Qualley. In addition to the director, Lea Mysius and Andrew Litvack will new adapting the 1986 novel by acclaimed writer Denis Johnson.
This love story is set in 1984 during the Nicaraguan Revolution, following a mysterious English businessman (Pattinson) and headstrong American journalist (Qualley) who instantly connect and strike up a passionate romance. They soon become entangled in a dangerous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies and are forced to try and escape the country, with only each other to trust and rely on.
Pattinson is currently working on Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which will be released in theaters June 25, 2021 via Warner Bros. The Stars At Noon marks his long standing return to indie films, particularly headlining a wide variety of A24 films like The Rover, The Lighthouse, Good Time, and High Life. Curiosa Films is reportedly producing with the anticipation of shooting the project later this year, making a 2021 theatrical release a likely possibility.
