As Paramount Pictures is set to make its presentation at CinemaCon 2017 – the annual Las Vegas convention where distributors gin up excitements for their upcoming slates to the National Association of Theater Owners – the distributor dropped some news on when a few of their hot-button titles will hit screens. Among those announced include George Clooney’s anticipated upcoming directorial bid Suburbicon, which features a stalwart ensemble cast in Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Oscar Isaac and Josh Brolin.
The crime drama, penned by Joel and Ethan Coen (regular collaborators with Clooney – O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Intolerable Cruelty and Hail, Caesar!), Grant Heslov and Clooney himself, will bow in theaters on November 3rd. The film, which has been shrouded with a certain degree of secrecy, will surely be one of the year’s more eagerly anticipated films considering the pedigree involved. Suburbicon will go head to head with expected blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok at the box office, but will likely be seeking a more mature crowd and serve as counter-programming to the Marvel title.
Also dated from Paramount is their upcoming comedy Action Point starring Jackass alum Johnny Knoxville. The film centers around a comedy stuntman (Knoxville), who along with a string of cohorts, acquire and operate a theme park where inevitably a cavalcade of hijinks ensue. Action Point will hit theaters on March 23, 2018.
Paramount also dated the recently announced horror entry A Quiet Place. John Krasinski (Promised Land) directs and stars alongside wife Emily Blunt (Sicario) in the upcoming thriller; plot details for which are currently under lock and key. A Quiet Place will bow on April 13, 2018.
Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon 2017 will take place tomorrow.
