Chris Pine is heading back to Texas. It has been confirmed that Pine will lead the Texas-set crime thriller, Nowhere Fast, which will be written and directed by Noah Hawley as his second feature. Though Hawley has directed a feature before (2019’s Lucy in the Sky), the director is better versed in TV productions, with works like Fargo and Legion under his belt, and an upcoming series, Alien: Earth, that is expected to debut this summer. Unlike Hawley, this is familiar territory for Chris Pine, who starred in 2016’s Hell or High Water, a neo-Western thriller. Pine is known for starring in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek adaption and its two sequels. He is also known for his portrayal of the main antagonist in Olivia Wilde’s 2022 Don’t Worry Darling. No other cast for Nowhere Fast has been announced as of yet, but it has been confirmed that additional casting is underway.
The film, described as “a Texas crime thriller following a small-town criminal who inadvertently kills the nephew of his boss,” will be produced by Hawley’s Austin-based production company, 26 Keys Productions. The feature will be financed by 30West and CAA Media Finance. 30West previously collaborated with Pine when it executive produced and financed his 2022 feature The Contractor.
