Chris Hemsworth May Take a 6-Month Break From Acting

Thor may soon be taking some well-deserved time off. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Thor: Ragnarok and 12 Strong star Chris Hemsworth joked about leaving acting behind and settling down with his family. With his Thor contract fulfilled once filming is completed on the second untitled Avengers: Infinity War film, the actor is envisioning taking at least six months off. “I want to be able to take the kids to school. I may even be off all year, ” Hemsworth mused. “Maybe, it’s time to just cash in and check out and surf for the rest of my life.”

After cashing those Marvel paychecks he could certainly afford to leave Hollywood behind and live a quiet life of luxury. And then he wouldn’t have to leave his family behind while filming for weeks at a time. Although it seems as though his kids aren’t taking his absences too badly. “I’d be walking out of the door and [the kids] would start crying, ‘Don’t go!’ I just couldn’t handle it, so I’d be like, ‘I’ll bring you back a present.’ And they’re like, ‘Oh, OK.’ Their mood changes. Now every time I come back it’s not even like, ‘Hey, Dad,’ it’s just, ‘What did you get me?'”

Hemsworth will return as Thor in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4. He is also starring alongside Dakota Johnson in Drew Goddard’s Bad Times at the El Royale, which should be in theaters on October 5. And if we’re lucky, he will take his love of surfing and revive the Surf Ninjas franchise. Fans of surfing and ninjas have been deprived for far too long.

I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, singing badly to pop songs in the car, eating delicious food, and drinking fine alcoholic beverages. I play basketball when my crippling knee and back pain allows, and I try to hit the gym on a regular basis. I have a son and a sugar glider, and when I'm not combing the internet for breaking news I am likely traveling or riding my Razor scooter.
