Actors such as Josh Gad and Paul Walter Hauser are just some of the individuals that have signed up to work on a biopic about the late comedian Chris Farley.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hauser, who rose to prominence in films such as I, Tanya and Richard Jewel, has expressed interest in portraying Farley, who was an iconic Saturday Night Live cast member and comedy film superstar in the 1990s.
Besides SNL, Farley would go on to take over the big screen with his charismatic style and physical comedy. Films such as Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, and Beverly Hills Ninja had audiences laughing throughout the 90’s.
Unfortunately, Farley’s life would be cut short due to addiction, eventually dying from a drug overdose at the age of 33.
With the Farley family’s blessing and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels set to produce the film under his Broadway Video company, the film is currently being pitched around Hollywood.
Hauser is set to star, with Gad, known for his broadway performances in The Book of Mormon and starring in films such as Frozen, signed on to be directing the film.
As for the contents of the film, it will be based on the book The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts by Tom Farley Jr., who is Chris Farley’s brother, and Tanner Colby. However, the screenplay will be written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.
As of now, the film has not been picked up by a studio, but with Farley being a staple both in SNL’s history and the comedy world, it might not take long for the biopic to see some traction.
