Not to be confused with 3:10 To Yuma, the indie dramedy 1:30 Train nonetheless centers on a train ride, albeit missing rather than making one, and finds for its setting the mean streets of modern New York City rather than the wild west. On that count, however, we’ll allow that there may be parallels which go beyond the movie’s title alone.
The film is still in development, but finds itself one step closer to production today with a director attachment. According to Deadline, Chris Evans, star of Captain America and the forthcoming train-based action/drama Snowpiercer, will both star in and direct 1:30 Train, his first feature film directing gig. No other cast has been announced yet, but news on that front figures to come sooner rather than later, as it seems Evans wants to wrap production on 1:30 Train before he heads off to shoot Avengers: Age of Ultron, which starts next February.
The story follows a woman who misses her train from New York to Boston and is subsequently robbed and becomes lost in New York’s underbelly. She meets a street musician who spends the night trying to help her, and along the way the two talk about life and love. If the IMDb synopsis is to be trusted, it seems that the woman’s trip to New York might have been sinfully motivated, as trying to “make it back home before her husband does” sounds a lot like an attempt to cover up an affair. An unhappy marriage would fit with the romance that apparently develops between the woman and her rescuer.
