According to Deadline, Chris Evans (always and forever Captain America) appears set to star in a forthcoming spy drama entitled Red Sea Diving Resort. Bron Studios is financing the film, based on a true story, which will be written and directed by Gideon Raff. The film centers on the Israeli spy agency’s energy to save and bring home Ethiopian Jews who were kept in the Sudan in the 1970s and 1980s.
Evans will portray Israeli agent Ari Kidron. After assembling his crew, Kidron took over an isolated resort in Sudan and began his mission of freeing the Jews in the territory. The mission took several years to accomplish. Alexandra Milchan is producing the title alongside Raff; Raff previously helmed the horror entries The Killing Floor (2007) and Train (2008) previously earned two Emmy Awards for writing and producing the hit Showtime series Homeland.
For Evans, this latest role marks a departure from Marvel duty – he’s portrayed Steve Rogers/Captain America since 2011 and will continue in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War. He was last seen on screens in Captain America: Civil War. Upcoming, Evans headlines Marc Webb’s drama Gifted co-starring Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) and Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures). He is also rumored to star in Ruben Fleischer’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reboot Jekyll.
