Chloë Grace Moretz has been cast to lead the first English-language film by Spanish director Carlota Pereda, titled The Edge of Normal. Pereda is known for her horror, directing features such as 2022’s Piggy and 2023’s The Chapel.

This serial-killer-based thriller is adapted from Carla Norton’s 2013 novel of the same name. The script was written by Dexter: Resurrection screenwriter Matt Venne, and the revisions were made by Final Destination: Bloodlines writer Lori Evans Taylor.

The official plot centers around Reeve LeClaire, a woman who “is still haunted from when she was held captive as a teenager by a sadistic man, but when her psychiatrist asks her to mentor a newly rescued survivor, she’s pulled into a chilling game of cat-and-mouse—one that threatens to drag her back into the nightmare she barely escaped.”

While there has been no other news regarding casting, filming is set to begin this spring with XYZ Films producing and financing the feature. Vanishing Angle will also produce along with Andrew Deane and Ava Jamshidi.
