Chilean Film Producer Florencia Larrea Establishes 500 Cinema With Pablo Stoll’s Zombie Film ‘Summer Hit’

Florencia Larrea who previously worked under Forastero, has now established an all-female company, 500 Cinema.

500 Cinema is the film production branch for 500 Nanómetros. 500 Nanómetros was founded in 2009 in Viña del Mar, Chile, specializing in a variety of creative projects including AR and VR.

In a statement made by Larrea about joining 500 Nanómetros, she said, “After leaving Forastero, I started as creative director at 500 Nanómetros, a company with a long history in new media and immersive projects that always seeks to challenge the limits of creativity. Antonia and Valentina also saw in the type of cinema I had been making, a space to continue developing innovative narrative projects. I saw in them great professionals and people with whom I could embark on a new adventure. So, naturally, I brought my catalog, and they brought their know-how in project development and management. 500 Nanómetros is led by women, and I really like that too.”

500 Cinema’s debut film will feature Uruguayan director Pablo Stoll’s zombie movie Summer Hit. This film was selected as the official feature for the Sitges Film Festival zombie street parade, known as the Zombie Walk. It will also be screening during the Sitges’ Midnight X-treme selection.

Summer Hit is described as a combination of a zombie, rom-com, horror, and heist film that centers on Felipe and Ana who roam on beaches after a pandemic puts them in lockdown. Ana and her friends are thieves who seduce, drug, and steal from wealthy guys. This summer is different for the friends as they plan the biggest burglary thus far. However it goes completely wrong for them as their robbing becomes murder. The cast contains Azul Fernandez (Atrevidas), Malena Villa (Matadero), Sebastian Iturria (El Año de la Furia), and Agustin Silva (Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus).

Stoll claims he began working on the film years ago. He shared an idea for the synopsis of the movie with Larrea and it is now coming to life as they work together.

Summer Hit is being co-produced by 500 Cinema, Stoll’s Temperamento Films and Nadador Cine.
