Focus Features has just released another longer trailer for their upcoming thrilling movie, Thoroughbreds. Directed by newcomer Cory Finley, it offsets actor Anton Yelchin (Star Trek: Into Darkness) with Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants). They will be joined by actors such as Francie Smith (Gossip Girl), Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire), and Kaili Vernoff (Crisis in Six Scenes).
Taylor-Joy and Cooke are sure terrify viewers by playing two girls embroiled in a dark and brutalizing friendship. Cooke’s character is described as “feeling nothing” while Taylor-Joy’s is described as “feeling everything.” This creates an interesting relationship as it allows Cooke’s character to help Taylor-Joy’s solve her problems without feeling any qualms about extremes. The greatest of these issues involve an extremely controlling step-dad. After the man decides to send Taylor-Joy’s character away, the two girls cook up a plan to prevent it, aiming to bring peace to their stressful days. However, they want a more permanent method of revenge: killing him. This sets the stage for their horrifying actions, enabling them to ask for aid in their plot from a character played by Yelchin.
