For those who spend all their spare waking hours glued to their mobile phones playing games, good news! Sony Animation has released the first trailer for the upcoming The Angry Birds Movie, and from the looks of it, you might be enticed to power down the phone and enjoy the adventures of the titular birds in the comfort of the multiplex.
Based on the immensely popular mobile game, Birds features an all-star voice cast headed up by Jason Sudeikis (Sleeping with Other People) and Josh Gad (Pixels) as birds in paradise who are about to find their world in flux thanks to the arrival of some mysterious pigs whose presence challenges the birds’ already hair-trigger anger management issues. Recent Emmy winners Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Tony Hale (Veep) are along for the ride, as are past and present SNL favorites Bill Hader (Trainwreck), Maya Rudolph (Sisters) and Kate McKinnon (the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot).
Veteran animators Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly make their directorial debuts on the film, working from a script by John Vitti, an alumnus of TV’s The Simpsons. The Angry Birds Movie opens May 20, 2016. Check out the trailer below.
