A trailer has surfaced for the upcoming erotic comedy-thriller A Bigger Splash, which reunites Tilda Swinton (Dr.Strange) and Ralph Fiennes (Spectre), who shared brief scene in 2014’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The film, set on a scenic and sun-drenched Italian island, follows rock star Marianne Lane (Swinton) and her filmmaker partner, Paul (Matthias Schoenarts, The Danish Girl) as they retreat to the island for some rest, recuperation and relaxation. Their bliss is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Lane’s former producer and ex-flame Harry (Fiennes) with his daughter Penelope (Dakota Johnson, 50 Shades of Grey) in tow. Harry and Penelope’s arrival sets off a chain reaction of sexual tension, intrigue, and desire.
A Bigger Splash, director Luca Guadagnino’s follow up to 2009’s I Am Love, was well received at this year’s Venice Film Festival, earning Golden Lion nomination. David Kajganich (The Invasion) penned the screenplay, a loose adaptation of Jacques Deray’s 1969 film La Piscine. Check out the trailer below. Fox Searchlight will release the film in North America on May 13, 2016.
