The dragon fully emerges as Disney showcases the official trailer for their upcoming reboot of Pete’s Dragon. Boasting a cast that includes Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Karl Urban (Star Trek), Wes Bentley (Welcome to Me), Oona Laurence (Southpaw) and legend Robert Redford (Truth), this family adventures may be another hit for the currently-on-fire Mouse House.
It’s youngster Oakes Fegley (This Is Where I Leave You) who leads as Pete, an orphaned child who forges the unlikeliest of friendships with a dragon. Based on the 1977 children’s favorite, this modern iteration comes to the screen courtesy of writer-director David Lowery, who made an impression a few years back with the not-so family suitable indie Ain’t Those Bodies Saints. Saints producer Toby Halbrooks co-wrote the screenplay.
Pete’s Dragon hits theaters on August 12th. Check out the official trailer below.
