Chase Infiniti, Miles Caton Among BAFTA Rising Star Nominees

BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Awards) has revealed its nominees for their Rising Star Award, including some of the stars from last year’s biggest movies. Chase Infinit, star of Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, leads the charge of nominees in her first major role. The film has been an awards darling so far, so it is not surprising to see Chase Infiniti on this list. Similarly, Miles Caton is also nominated, with his first acting role being Sinners.

The other nominees in this category are all British, and include Archie Madekwe, who gained notoriety from his performances in SaltburnMisommar and Gran Turismo. He is being nominated this year for Lurker, a psychological thriller directed by Alex Russell.  Robert Aramayo joins him for his role in Kirk Jones’ I Swear. Finally, Posy Sterling was nominated for her performance in Lollipop. She has already earned a British Independent Film Award for the film. The BAFTA Rising Star Award is the only prize voted for by the British public. Last year, David Jonsson won the award for Alien: Romulus. He also starred in the Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk last year.

The BAFTA Film Awards are scheduled for February 22. They are one of the final stops on the film awards circuit, which generally wraps up with the Academy Awards, which will take place on March 15 this year.
