Among the several noteworthy debuts on the big screen this weekend, one is cutting its way through the competition. Chainsaw Man: The Movie — Reze Arc is beating the other new releases and is revving up to take the top spot at the box office.
Based on the popular Chainsaw Man anime, Screenrant notes that Reze Arc is following in the steps of yet another mega-hit anime movie from 2025. Back in September, a new highest-grossing anime film hit the scene with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle, and while Reze Arc isn’t set to hit quite the same numbers, its estimated weekend total of $17 million is enough to cement this as a landmark year for anime films at the box office.
Other titles this weekend, both new and holdovers, can’t quite cut it compared to Chainsaw Man. Deadline originally noted that it was supposed to be Black Phone 2 that would take the top spot, according to initial estimates. Screenrant even noted that Black Phone 2 is looking to fall below that of Chainsaw Man.
Collider noted that not only is Chainsaw Man able to benefit from being based on the acclaimed anime, but it’s also currently boasting a fantastic Rotten Tomatoes score. The Critic Score, as of this writing, stands at an astounding 96% with 24 reviews.
