Actor Chadwick Boseman (Get on Up) has just established that he will join the ensemble cast of Avengers: Infinity War, reprising his role as the hero Black Panther!

Black Panther first appeared in Captain America: Civil War, stealing many of the scenes in which he appeared. Boseman portrayed his character, T’Challa, as an honorable man righteously driven by his grief to seek justice for his father’s death, ultimately taking the mantle of the Black Panther to complete his painful mission.
Boseman will act alongside a large returning cast, with members such as Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark); Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow); Chris Evans (Captain America); Brie Larson (Captain Marvel); Zoe Saladana (Gamora); and Chris Pratt (Star-Lord). Those are only a few of many players in the Marvel cinematic universe poised to portray their characters in the film.
Notably, the trajectory of the film is posed to draw from the comic arc involving Thanos and his quest to gain ultimate power through the use of the infinity gauntlet and the infinity gems, which have been placed as major plot points throughout several of the Marvel films, such as Thor: the Dark World and the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
As an interesting fact, Black Panther’s home nation of Wakanda has had hooks to the Marvel cinematic universe as early as 2011, in Captain America: the First Avenger. Captain America’s iconic shield was actually made with an alloy metal mixture including the valuable, durable Vibranium, which is found chiefly in Wakanda.
While Avengers: Infinity War won’t be released until May 4, 2018, fans of Black Panther won’t have to wait that long! Boseman will finally star in his own film, which will be released on February 16, 2018. Actors Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan have also signed on, along with director Ryan Coogler.
