In case you’ve been living under the shadow of John Leguizamo’s epic performance in 1997’s Spawn, you may not have heard that Spawn creator Todd McFarlane is currently in the process of rebooting the franchise for a new take on his popular antihero.
The new Blumhouse-produced Spawn film doesn’t have a release date yet, but things seem to be progressing at a nice clip according to a recent interview between McFarlane and ComicBook. There, McFarlane explained that it’s time for them to start finding actors to portray roles in the film.
Speculation has already begun on who will play the titular role. Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained), Omari Hardwick (Power), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire), and Sterling K. Brown (American Crime Story) are currently among the names being discussed. However, according to McFarlane, Spawn isn’t necessarily the largest part to play in his own film, which he believes is title that ought to be applied to the character Twitch.
Maybe Mr. Leguizamo could throw his hat into the ring to keep his Spawn legacy alive. Who would you like to see in these two roles? Let us know in the comments below.
